DIRECTOR - RUTHIE SMITH

Piano, Voice, Guitar, Ukulele, Preschool music programs

Having formal study in piano, strings, and voice with strong family support helped her gain a vocal scholarship to Azusa Pacific University. Ruthie combined her love of music and stage with a Business Communication degree and topped it all off at The Contemporary Music Center on Martha’s Vineyard with a deep dive into the music industry, which set her up for success at Universal Music Group in LA.

A few years after following her heart to San Diego, some neighbors heard Ruthie sing and play her grand piano while the front door was open and asked if she was taking students. Shortly after, a family with a budding vocalist heard Ruthie sing on a local stage and asked about voice lessons. What began as a few students a week pushed Ruthie into an enthusiastic pursuit to share music and create dedicated musicians with a lifelong love of music and the skills to pursue the passion behind their art.

When she’s not immersing herself in musical pedagogy, you can find Ruthie soaking up all the cuddles and giggles she can from her precious boys, Cooper and Beckett.  She may also be trying a new recipe with any new kitchen gadget for her devoted husband, Charlie. Ruthie can do all this while tossing treats to their dogs, Sarafina and Reese, and simultaneously planning the next chance to host Game Night or a Block Party.

DYLAN MARKS
Drums and Guitar

Our studio is honored to have one of San Diego’s top 10 drummers! Dylan’s talent and passion for music are topped only by his skill in making tough concepts make sense for his students.

You can catch him gigging around Southern CA regularly and working in and out of the recording studio with crazy amazing bands. In his free time, you’re most likely to find him working on new drum fills or guitar riffs while binging Law & Order.

YOZELIN CARBALLO
Voice and Piano

“I LOVE Ms. Yoz!” is heard on repeat in the lobby around here! Yozelin’s gorgeous voice and extraordinary piano skills are a gift to us in the studio. Ask her to start doing a little jazz improv and you won’t want to leave.

Yozelin grew up putting her lessons into practice with a family band and they still play together all the time. She is on stage leading music nearly every weekend. When she’s not behind a piano, you’re most likely to find her searching for a new coffee shop with an amazing Chai.
